A DemandStar alternative for bidding across more than one country
DemandStar is a long-running bid notification network for US state and local (SLED) procurement: suppliers register for free and pay to expand how many agencies they hear from. It is a solid, verifiable choice for a business that only bids on US county and city contracts. It is not built to also watch the EU, the UK or Canada, and its pricing is structured around US geography rather than a single flat plan.

What DemandStar charges, by its own pricing page
DemandStar's live supplier pricing page lists four tiers. Basic is free and gives notifications for a single procurement agency. County notifications across one county start at $60 a year. State notifications across one state start at $100 to $1,499 a year, varying with how many agencies in that state are on the DemandStar network. A National plan covering the whole country is $2,699 a year. Every plan includes unlimited free bid-package downloads inside its subscription area; a non-subscriber can still download any single bid package for a $5 fee.
That structure rewards knowing in advance exactly which counties or states you will bid in, since each added region is its own purchase (or a jump to the $2,699 national tier).
Where the cost adds up for a multi-region bidder
A contractor bidding across a handful of counties in different states ends up either paying per county and per state, which stacks quickly past the county-level $60 starting price, or moving straight to the $2,699 national plan to avoid tracking which regions are covered. Either way, the DemandStar network is scoped to US state and local government agencies; it is not built to also watch a tender published on TED, the UK's Find a Tender service, SAM.gov or CanadaBuys.
What Bidstage does differently
Bidstage charges one flat price regardless of how many regions you track within your plan: Solo is $19 a month ($190 a year) for two regions, and Team is $49 a month ($490 a year) for every region Bidstage covers, with up to three profiles and three seats. Both include a 7-day money-back guarantee, and there is no per-county or per-state add-on fee.
Coverage is TED (the EU's tender database), the UK's Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, SAM.gov Contract Opportunities in the US, CanadaBuys in Canada, and World Bank procurement notices, each matched against a profile built from a company's own website rather than a manual agency-by-agency subscription choice.

Questions
Is DemandStar free?
Partly. Its Basic plan is free for notifications from a single procurement agency. Expanding to a county, a state, or the whole country moves onto paid annual plans, published on DemandStar's own supplier pricing page as $60-$2,699 a year.
Does Bidstage replace DemandStar for US state and local bids?
No, not fully. DemandStar's network is built around US county and state agencies. Bidstage's sources are TED (EU), the UK's Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, SAM.gov (US federal), CanadaBuys and World Bank notices, so it does not ingest the same US state or city agency portals DemandStar's network does.
Who is Bidstage a better fit for than DemandStar?
A business bidding across more than one country, or on US federal work rather than state and local contracts, since one Bidstage plan covers those sources without a per-region fee.
